This mixed media portrait brings together many of the elements that have inspired me throughout my artistic journey—classical portraiture, vintage papers, handwritten letters, maps, lace, and, of course, lavender.
Lavender has held a special place in my life for many years. I once grew a lavender field, created handmade lavender products, and even wrote a book about cultivating this remarkable plant. Including it in this painting became a natural way of weaving a piece of my own story into the artwork.
The portrait gradually emerges from layers of collage, texture, and symbolism, inviting the viewer to discover quiet details hidden beneath the surface. It is a celebration of memory, beauty, and the traces of time that shape our lives.
